HALITZER

A psychedelic blues-rock band hailing from Towson, MD, drawing on influences from the 1960s, while still sounding fresh & original. With ear-splitting volumes, trippy guitars, gigantic overdriven bass, and thunderous drums, HALITZER is a force to be reckoned with. To call us simply psychedelic blues rock would be a misnomer, as we play more than just trippy blues rock loud as all hell. It is hard to classify us, you will just have to listen to our songs, and see for yourself what we really are.

In a world full of emo & pop-punk bands that all follow a trend and sound the same, one wonders whether there's any music that's actually original sounding. Well wonder no more. Enter Halitzer. A band whose sound borders on retro, but still sounds fresh and original. A band who can't be classified by a single genre. Hell, we can't even be classified by three genres, like most websites allow. Each song we do has a different sound, from the bluesy "Chestnut Oak" & "Sleepin' Donny," to the borderline-metal "Euphoria," to the power-ballad sound of "Mango Man," to the acoustic "Lost My Faith," it's hard to classify us.

The lyrics to our songs are often times cynical, and at times just downright depressing. They're not self-pitying like emo lyrics, or overly optimistic & fantasized as pop-punk lyrics. They're about things that we hope people can relate to, such as drugs, war, sex, religion, and death. The songs tell fictional stories based on real life experiences, with fictional characters such as the "Mango Man," who we'll bet you won't be able to figure out who or what he actually is. Euphoria is about the brief sensation you get when you fuck something up, but then you feel bad afterwards. Everybody has felt this feeling at least once in their life.

Lastly, we hope you enjoy our music. It's not ultra-trendy, and it doesn't sound like anything new played on the radio today. It's different. It has to be. We don't need anymore trendy bands, that will eventually change their sound & image as soon as this current fad dies (and it can't die soon enough!). Bands like this we refer to as "coolguy," which you will hear us say alot if you talk to us. We hope you can associate with our songs, and show them to your friends & family, and that they show them to their friends, etc. Not that we don't want lots people to hear & enjoy our music; what band doesn't? But we want to do it with our own original sound & style, and not thrive off of what's popular now.

We're not the same. And proud of it.

You're not the same. You should be proud of it, too.

"shake the hand of the mango man as he meets u at the corner"

is like a knock off of the Jimmy Buffet song where he says
"shake the hand of the mango man as he meets u at the border"

This group has major talent and I'm sure they'll get far, if they keep rocking like they are now ;) Euphoria is a GREAT song!

I like them, they show real promise as an up-and-comming band. I like the bass playing, it's extremely different, but it's one of the best "different" sounds I've heard in a while. Worth $10 for a CD, at least.
