Morterra

There is such a thing as a metal band from Burlington, and Morterra is just that. Residing in virtually the capital of the emo scene of Ontario, Morterra has set itself to be that red coloured brick in that vast white wall. With music written with such an artistic intensity, this behemoth of a band is simply just too devastating and brutal for the meager and weak town of Burlington. Instead, over the past year, Morterra have become a prominent name in a city where metal is made in music and in matter: Hamilton - The Steel City. Morterra masterfully fuses together the prominent aspects of Death Metal and American Heavy Metal to copulate and birth its music; alongside many other forms of music and genres. This ethic makes Morterra unique in the local Metal scene. Set apart by its noticeably abrasive and erosively punishing stage performances and its breath-taking and commanding music, Morterra has amassed a title for being one of the heaviest bands in the local metal scene.


Since its formation in October of 2004, the band has overcome many obstacles that nearly lynched the band of its existence. Nevertheless, these four determined individuals have trucked through the worst times together and even apart, only to make them stronger as a whole. This is reflective in the music that they produce, exemplified in the newly-released "Marked In Stone". This CD is the product of an epic struggle that affronted the band as early as the writing process. However, with thicker skin on their backs, Morterra still prevails. Its roots stronger than before, deeply insinuated into the dead earth on which is stands.
